![]() ![]() Just thought I’d pass it along to any Windows users who might be looking into a new type of feed reader. There might be, but I haven’t discovered it if so.įor now, I don’t see why I wouldn’t keep using it. I don’t see any limitations on how many feeds I can add to it – like there were in free browser feed readers. I also like that it works with Reddit and YouTube. So, for sites I know that don’t update often, or for sites that DO update a lot, I could scale back how many times a day the reader pulls in new articles. I do like that I can customize things about individual feeds such as how often the reader attempts to sync. Popping up and consuming the whole bottom right corner of my screen when I’m trying game was a quick way to get turned off. It has a few more clicks to open something in a web browser than I’m used.Īside from that, I had to disable the notifications – while they were helpful sometimes, Windows notifications are just too bulky in general. Well enough for a feed reader – it does its job. Looks like there’s some kind of Feedly add-on though. I did have to manually move over the feeds I wanted to add to my reader as there was no way that I could see to export/import from Inoreader. Awasu Personal Edition is a free feature-rich RSS feed reader with a modern and customizable user interface. What We Don't Like Free version is limited. ![]() Easy to edit folders and add custom channels. I’ve never fully been convinced of the whole apps idea within Windows, but it installed just fine and I’ve been using it well enough. 01 of 07 Awasu Personal Edition What We Like Integrated search engine streamlines finding new content. It’s one of those “Windows Apps” that you can get for free in the Windows store. Last week, I discovered Newsflow by complete accident. However, there is a limit on how many feeds you can subscribe to as a free user, and I have to use a blocker to block ads on it. But now that I’m not really looking to support WordPress, I was back to Inoreader, which works just fine for what I need it to do. I started to migrate a number of blogs I followed to WordPress for a time. I’ve had to move from several feed readers over the years, so I’m never really set on just one. Most recently, I’ve also been following YouTube and Reddit channels via feed reader as well. It’s how I keep up with all the sites and blogs I follow. I’ve used some form of RSS feed reader for many, many years now. ![]() I've only tried a few readers on iOS and compared to the experience of FeedMe on Android, they're all equally dreadful so no strong recommendation there.Blaugust 2022 – Trying Newsflow – Windows RSS Feed Reader I'd add that I love their subscription management system and they provide you with an email address that lets you subscribe to newsletters that show up just like another feed - an awesome feature.įor a reader to access any of the services (on Android), my 100% recommendation is FeedMe, there's nothing even close. I chose FeedBin to subscribe to and have been nothing but happy. Easy to contact and instant and detailed responses. The smallest development team (one person) but by a wide margin, the best. Like Feedly, not an easy team to contact or communicate with.įeedBin - was able to read 200 of 200 feeds (and since my testing, I've yet to find a feed it can't immediately read). Innoreader - was able to read 198 of 200 feeds. My least favourite development team not responsive or easy to communicate with. Tied for the worst UI, but still not bad. I'd rate the developers as #2 on the list responsive and nice to deal with.įeedly - was able to read 194 of 200 feeds. The worst of the bunch which is a shame because the UI is actually the runaway winner. The Old Reader - was able to read 192 of 200 feeds. The most important thing to me was being able to add any feed I wanted. I never looked deeply into why certain services couldn't read certain feeds, it was just a struggle that I knew existed. I then loaded the feeds (in two different phases) into each service and examined how many of the feeds could actually be read. When I had to pick which to go pro with, I created 2 opml files with 100 random feeds from all-different sources. I have accounts on the 4 big aggregators (I'd argue that "reader" refers to something different). ![]()
